I have been designing and creating jewelry since 2011. Most recently I have become focused on my love of wood pyrography which is the art or technique of decorating wood or leather by burning a design on the surface with a heated metallic point.
I am inspired by nature and living in the country allows me many opportunities to explore natural creativity which enhances my jewelry designs.
I create original mountain landscapes, florals and whimsical woodland creatures on pendants, earrings and bracelets.
My creation process begins by burning the design free hand into the wood and then my coloration techniques involve using either acrylics, alcohol ink, a waterbased distress stain or colored pencils. Finally the design is made permanent with an acrylic sealant.
In my assembly process I utilize semi-precious gemstones, ceramic focals and beads, Czech Glass beads, seed beads, metal beads and wood beads. To add texture, linen cord, leather, chain, wire and other materials are used. Hand knotting, wire wrapping, riveting and crocheting techniques add the finishing touches.
My designs are unique, simple and rustic yet maintain an elegant appeal.
I consider them to be wearable miniature works of art.
